Section 6: Educational Requirement
It is a requirement for registration that applicants have completed education that meets the standards set out the in Registration Regulation. There are four ways you can do this:
- Graduation from a diploma program in early childhood education offered by an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (OCAAT).
- Graduation from a diploma or degree program, in or related to early childhood education, that is approved by the College as meeting the education requirement.

- A combination of education and work experience that is assessed under the College’s individual assessment process as meeting the education requirement for registration.*
*If you plan to meet the education requirement by way of option e, do not complete the General Application Form. You must complete the Application Form – Individual Assessment. (See the Guide for the Individual Assessment of Education for instructions for completing that form).
In order to assess whether you meet the education requirement,* the College requires certain information and supporting documentation from you.
- In Section 6 of the General Application Form, you must identify which option for the education requirement applies to you.
- Read through the four options listed for the education requirement. Check the box that describes your education background and provide the additional details for that option. More information about each field is provided below.
- If your education background is not described in any of the four options, then do not complete this form. See the note above for instructions about the College’s individual assessment process.
- You must also have supporting documentation submitted to the College as proof of the education you completed. See below for instructions and requirements.
*The College also uses the information and documentation about your education to assess whether you meet the language proficiency requirement for registration. For more information about the language proficiency requirement for registration, see the description on the Registration Requirements page.
