College Leadership Additions

In June 2016 the College welcomed two new members to its senior leadership team: Cynthia Abel RECE as Director of Registration and Member Services and Marc Spector LLB as Director of Professional Regulation.

Cynthia Abel brings practitioner experience in a range of early learning and care settings, teaching and administrative experience in the post-secondary sector and legislative and regulatory experience with the Ontario government.

Through her leadership positions in the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS), she played a key role in the transitional period of our College as well as the transfer of our reporting from MCYS to the Ministry of Education. 

Marc Spector comes to us from an extremely successful practice at Steinecke Maciura Leblanc, where he focuses exclusively on professional regulation and has worked with numerous regulatory bodies.

He speaks nationally and internationally on emerging issues in professional regulation and his thoughtful communication and collaborative style has allowed him to build rapport and respect with coworkers and clients alike. 

Cynthia and Marc join long-standing and dedicated leadership team members Melanie Dixon RECE, Director of Professional Practice and James Cha, Director of Corporate Services. Melanie and James bring years of experience with the College, deep knowledge and connections in the ECE sector and a commitment to the College’s strategic priorities, including IT transformation, review of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and launch of the mandatory Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) program.

I am delighted to have such a diverse team of professionals leading the College’s work to regulate the profession of early childhood education in the public interest and look forward to our work together.
